iMiXWHATiLiKE - Mixtapes for the Masses

Those of you that are interested in the activist arena of the Hip Hop Nation I have to point you to Voxunion. You can expect to find;

Emancipatory (Mixtape) Journalism

Dynamic interviews, stimulating music and much more is what you can expect here.

Did I mention Hip Hop like it was meant to be. The voice of our people.

THANKS VOXUNION

Above you see a review from a couple of years ago the site has changed.

Still dynamic and stimulating Voxunion has been evolving over the years. The information above is from
January 2008 so it's time for an update. Prof. Jared ball has not been gathering any moss. One very interesting development is his affiliation with journalist Glen Ford of Black Agenda Report. This is, in my opinion, a propitious union if there ever was one. I hope to see more from these two protagonists of African American media. ----------  Keep up the good work my brothers.

D.J.  Professor Jared Ball

As for the Voxunion site they have brought it up to standards that reflect the evolution of the tools available on (web 2.0) as well as offering more in depth content, news, opinions and inspirational ideas for those of us who wish to avail ourselves of this media.
This has since become I Mix What I Like
Listen Here since the following video is gone.

KRS-One Lecture - Black Media Archive

I just listened to a great lecture given by Hip Hop Ambassador  KRS-One
at Temple University in April 2004. I reccommend it to all you youngsters and OGs.
It's titled "Hip-Hop Beyond Entertainment"

Part 1
Part 2
Click the above links to view this informative lecture.

The lecture is just a small part of a collection of African and African-American history, including speeches, archival video, movies, music, and more, to be found on the Black Media Archive Podcast.

It's come to my attention that as of lately the Black Media Archive content may be found on iTunes. I'm so glad it's still available. I recommend you go and listen and download what interests you because there is a lot of very interesting vintage material as far as the African American Community is concerned.

Hip Hop History???

Hip Hop History
Here it is. Davey D's Hip Hop Corner has it all. News, views, reviews, interviews and points of views all about the art form known as "Hip Hop". If you want to know who's who and what's what regarding this phenomenon in the USA. then this sure looks like the place to be.  Davey D who's been well into Hip Hop for more than 3 decades, presents to us in the form of this web site, what is possibly the most comprehensive catalog of Hip Hop and it's adherents in existence.

Did you say Hip Hop?  Well here it is you just have to see for yourself there's just too much going on for me to tell you. I will say I've listened to many Davey D interviews and I always learned something and had fun doing it too. Sometimes it left me feeling a little too agitated but hey! we need that too. This is one O.G. who is going to recommend this site even though I haven't seen it all. Enjoy it.

Take hundreds of insightful interviews, to say nothing of historical facts regarding Hip Hop, by those who were and are doing it couple that with the latest technology in the form of podcasting and there is nothing else for me to say because you can hear it all for yourself. I love it.
